In order to prepare for an emergency, the Municipality of West Grey has created a Community Emergency Response Plan. This plan takes a look at possible emergencies the municipality could face—including natural disasters, floods, terrorism or a health crisis—and guides the emergency response team through the crisis.
The community emergency management coordinator (CEMC) will make sure the plan is followed in order to keep the community safe and critical services operational. The emergency response team includes the mayor, the chief administrative officer, the chiefs of the West Grey Police Service and the West Grey Fire Department and other members of staff.
Residents and business owners do have a role to play with emergency preparedness.
Even though an emergency may seem unlikely, it is very important to be prepared. Emergency kits and supplies should be on hand for up to 72 hours. The Province of Ontario outlines how to be prepared for an emergency or see the emergency preparedness guide from public safety canada to help keep your family safe during a crisis.
