Report a lost pet

If you have lost a dog there are several strategies available:

• Call the Municipality of West Grey at 519-369-2200
• Call the Hanover Veterinary Hospital at 519-364-6772
• For any lost pet, post to the Facebook page: lost and found animals of Grey/Bruce and surrounding areas.

Report dog bite or animal cruelty

To report a dog bite or suspected case of animal cruelty, please contact West Grey Police Service dispatch at
519-371-6911.

Dog tags

All dogs in West Grey require dog tags which can be purchased at the municipal office. Dog tags are permanent but the annual fee must be paid each year. This program works with dog owners to promote responsible dog ownership and provide a useful tool in case a dog goes missing.

Fees are due each year by March 31 and cost more depending on how many dogs are owned.

Before March 31: 

• First dog: $20.00
• Second dog: $30.00
• Third dog: $40.00
• Fourth dog + additional dogs after: $50.00

After March 31: 

• First dog: $25.00
• Second dog: $35.00
• Third dog: $45.00
• Fourth dog + additional dogs after: $55.00

There is a $85.00 reclamation fee for any dog. Unpaid tags will be added to tax bills.
Tags are not transferable between municipalities.

Kennel licence and fees

All kennels in West Grey require a valid licence with the municipality and pay an annual $150.00 fee before March 31, or $200.00 after March 31. Kennels Licence application forms can be accessed here, at the municipal office, or by calling 519-369-2200.

Livestock injured by wildlife

Farmers may be eligible for compensation should a farm animal be injured or killed by a coyote, wolf or stray dog.
