Flooding, runoff and fast water flows following heavy rainfall

WEST GREY, ON – Heavy rainfall on August 7, 2021 resulted in elevated water levels and fast-flowing rivers, caused flooding in downtown Durham and at least two serious road washouts.
The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority reported the localized storm cell over Durham measured 65 mm of rain causing the excessive runoff and roadway flooding. Several basements were flooded and roads were closed over the course of the early evening weather event.

Construction to Lion's Heritage Park begins Tuesday, August 10, 2021

Construction to the Lion's Heritage Park will begin Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Access to the park will be restricted during this time to ensure the public's safety.
The bridge will be closed to pedestrian traffic from both the west side and from the east side for approximately two weeks.

Special council meeting for Lantz Bridge and Concession 2 projects

West Grey Council has scheduled a special meeting on August 10, 2021 at 9 a.m. for two significant projects: the Lantz Bridge replacement and the paving of Concession 2 WGR.
The agenda will include a report on enhanced safety measures and a project update for the replacement of the Lantz Bridge. West Grey received funding from the federal and provincial governments to replace this bridge with a two-lane wooden structure.
