West Grey approves alternative voting for 2022 municipal election

WEST GREY, ON –West Grey council has decided to use internet and telephone voting for the 2022 municipal election.
“As we learned from the 2018 election, alternate voting methods offered several benefits for West Grey electors, and resulted in an increase in voter participation,” said Mayor Christine Robinson.
Internet and telephone voting methods were selected for the following reasons:

- greater flexibility for eligible voters to cast their ballots from anywhere;

To honor the 215 children whose remains were found at the former Kamloops residential school and all indigenous children who never made it home, the survivors, and their families, West Grey will be flying flags at half-mast for an hour that each child was found.
Record-breaking building in West Grey

WEST GREY, ON – The Municipality of West Grey is experiencing quite a building boom with three times more building permits issued in 2021 compared to the same quarter in 2020.
West Grey’s Chief Building Official, Karl Schipprack, reported record-breaking building activity in the first quarter of this year. In addition to the increase in the number of permits issued, the total dollar value has also seen a significant increase at over $12.5 million, compared to $3 million in the same period last year.
