WEST GREY, ON—The Municipality of West Grey will waive some penalties and interest charges as the community continues to face the global COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is a temporary, short term measure to provide important relief to ratepayers facing financial struggles and will be welcome news to many impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson said. “We also welcome and support the financial relief programs being launched by our provincial and federal partners in order to help our families and businesses through this difficult time.”
The interest and fees being waived include:
- Penalty/interest charges on property taxes for April, May and June
- Late fees on the 2020 first quarter utility billings
- Late fees on 2020 monthly utility billings for March, April and May
- Interest charges on miscellaneous accounts receivable billings for April, May and June
- The due date for dog tags has been moved to May 31, 2020
On March 23, 2020 the Municipality of West Grey announced a state of emergency.
All municipal facilities, parks, picnic areas, campgrounds, boat launches and river access points are closed until further notice. Staff continues to keep critical services operational.
