WEST GREY, ON—The Municipality of West Grey is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and staying in touch with provincial partners, public health, Grey County and the business community.
“This has been a difficult time for communities around the world,” said West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson. “Being informed and staying proactive is a priority for West Grey. We have – and will continue to – participate in conference call meetings with our local, regional and provincial partners. We are assured that municipalities will receive support, timely and accurate information, updated legislative guidelines and financial assistance.”
In West Grey, critical services including water/sewer, garbage pickup and landfill sites remain in operation. All meetings and public events are postponed until further notice.
“We have implemented municipal business continuity practices to keep critical services operational,” Mayor Robinson said. “Municipal facilities are closed to the public however staff are working and delivering those important services.”
Grey Bruce Public Health has set up assessment centres, prepared local hospitals and front line staff, and will continue providing updates to our community on the local spread of this pandemic. The main message being repeated from experts around the world is to stay home, practice social distancing and wash your hands. This is important in order to slow the rate of infection and not overwhelm hospitals.
