WEST GREY, ON—The Municipality of West Grey has suspended its recreational programming and closed all municipal facilities until further notice. This includes all arenas, community centres, halls, library branches and the municipal administration building.
Further, all committees of council meetings and municipal events have been canceled until further notice amidst growing concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic.
The council meeting scheduled for March 17 at 6 p.m. and a special meeting on development charges at 3 p.m. have been postponed.
“Health experts are repeating over and over for social distancing as the primary way to slow the infection of the pandemic,” said West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson. “We are
in communication with the county, other municipalities, public health and the province to make sure we are making decisions with accurate and timely information—at this time, these proactive measures are necessary and prudent.”
Residents should:
- Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often.
- Cough and sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue. Dispose of tissue immediately and wash your hands.
- Keep surfaces clean and disinfected.
- Stay home, only travel if necessary
“This virus should be taken seriously,” Mayor Robinson said. “West Grey will continue to operate critical services, communicate openly with the public and ensure the health and safety of our community.”
