Effective Tuesday March 1, 2022 all West Grey municipal roads will be under a reduced load restriction (5 tonnes per axle) until further notice.
Half load restriction season typically starts March 1 and continues until April 30 annually. Depending on existing and forecasted environmental conditions and the existing condition of the road network, the half load season may be extended if deemed necessary.
Not all roads have signs posted. The restriction applies to all municipal roads, regardless of where signs are posted. Under the Highway Traffic Act, Section 122, reduced load restrictions are placed on trucks to protect Ontario's highways during spring thaw, when road damage is most likely to occur. Municipal roads are susceptible to damage and can be compromised by the negative impacts caused by heavy vehicle loads during the spring thaw and the associated rainy season.
