Take notice that in accordance with Section 17 and Section 26 of the Planning Act, R.S.O 1990, c.P.13, as amended a public meeting will be held during the regular meeting of council to consider Official Plan Amendment No. 9 – Official Plan Update:
- Official Plan Amendment (OPA 9), a municipal-initiated amendment to the Municipality of West Grey Official Plan.
The purpose of the statutory public meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to provide comments to council on the proposed official plan update and for council to discuss the revisions to the official plan that may be required. Council will consider public feedback prior to adopting an updated official plan.
Public Meeting:
The details of the public meeting are as follows:
Purpose and Effect:
The purpose of the official plan is to provide a long-term strategy for managing growth and development within the primary settlement areas of Durham and Neustadt to the year 2046. The current Municipality of West Grey Official Plan replaced the Town of Durham Official Plan and the Village of Neustadt Official Plan, both of which came into effect in the 1980s.
Recognizing that both plans were clearly outdated, the County of the Municipality of West Grey requested in 2011 that a new official plan be prepared for these two primary settlement areas. The current official plan was adopted by council on February 1, 2012, and approved by the county on August 16, 2012. In 2020 council ordered a review of the Official Plan, as per section 26 of the Planning Act, (R.S.O. 1990, as amended) to consider changes that were necessary to bring this land use document into compliance with current provincial and county policies, the findings of the county’s 2021 Growth Management Strategy and to reflect the current goals and objectives of West Grey council. The current document is a result of that update.
A copy of the draft Official Plan is available on the website together with a revision and rationale table.
Property Description:
The update to the official plan will affect all lands within the municipal settlement areas of Durham and Neustadt. Accordingly, no key map is provided.
