WEST GREY, ON – The Municipality is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele Harris as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective July 8, 2024. With an extensive background in economic development and strategic management, Harris brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help move West Grey forward. Michele Harris has a passion for placemaking and rural community development, often being referred to as a change-agent for using innovation, leadership and outside-the-box thinking to deliver impactful and successful outcomes.
Harris is an experienced leader, having worked in a variety of roles focusing on economic development and strategic management, most recently holding the position of Director of Building, Economic and Community Development with the Municipality of Grey Highlands where she was responsible for delivering on strategic priorities and managing a team responsible for ensuring future development, growth and recreation aligned with community values and council priorities. Michele has served on the boards of several provincial and municipal tourism and economic development organizations, has been an instructor and served on the Academic Advisory Committee at Humber College, and is a seasoned speaker on tourism, innovation, and regional economic development.
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve the residents of West Grey, and support the great work being done by council and staff at the municipality to deliver on the priorities outlined in West Grey’s 2024-2026 Strategic Plan”, said Harris.
“It is with great anticipation that we await the arrival of Michele to the role of CAO of West Grey. Michele has the skills and attributes that will be a welcome addition to our management team”, said mayor Kevin Eccles.
In addition to welcoming Michele Harris, the Municipality of West Grey extends its heartfelt gratitude to Interim CAO Kerri Mighton for her exemplary service during the transition period. Ms. Mighton’s leadership, strong organizational commitment and efforts have been instrumental in maintaining the smooth operation of the municipality during the CAO recruitment phase.

Harris officially starts as West Grey’s new CAO on July 8, 2024.
