WEST GREY, ON—On March 23, 2020 the Municipality of West Grey declared a state of emergency due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the municipality has remained focused on maintaining critical services and following the directions of the Grey Bruce Health Unit and the provincial government.
On August 4, the municipality announced the West Grey administration building would reopen to the public on August 17.
On Friday July 17, 2020 the municipality joined many other regions of Ontario and entered into stage 3 of the recovery as set out by the province. Some West Grey playgrounds opened and the municipality announced summer ice will go in at the Normanby Arena in Ayton.
Tennis and basketball courts, community gardens and the West Grey summer camp are open with some restrictions and health guidelines.
All other municipal facilities remain closed to the public, until further notice.
Many parks, trails, open spaces and river access points have reopened.
