- Council received a presentation from Kevin Tremble, BDO Canada LLP respecting the Municipality of West Grey Draft Financial Statements for the year of 2022. Council approved the draft financial statements as presented.
- Council received a delegation from Malcolm Beddoe respecting an update and review of services provided by the West Grey Public Library.
- Council received correspondence from CUPE Ontario and proclaimed October 17, 2023 as Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.
- Council received correspondence from Marian Ratcliffe respecting a request to make West Grey a dark sky friendly community. Council directed staff to review the lights on the Garafraxa Bridge, the Heritage Walkway Bridge and the municipal office.
- Council appointed Brian Carr, Kathy Eckenswiller, Bruce Gardecki and Brenda Wheeler as members of the Union Cemetery Board.
- Council directed staff to obtain a membership with the Top Aggregate Producing Municipalities of Ontario (TAPMO). Membership fees are based on a percentage of the Ontario Aggregate Resources Corporation (TOARC) fees received by the municipality. The membership fee for 2023 is $1,600.
- Council directed staff to proceed with repainting the Neustadt Water Tower at a cost of $1,404,780 plus contract administration fees, site inspection fees and net HST. This is the first re-painting of the water tower since its commissioning in 1996.
- Council thanked Tree Canada and the LCBO for sponsoring the tree planting event held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the community gardens in Durham. Community members and volunteers planted 25 new fruit trees at the corner of Station Street and Saddler Street West.
- The Elmwood Fire Joint Board of Management held their annual service awards ceremony on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Council thanked all West Grey firefighters for their dedication and service.
- Council members announced upcoming community events including the Elmwood Chamber of Commerce Wing Night on October 6, 2023 at the Elmwood Community Centre; the West Grey Public Library’s Trivia Night on October 14, 2023 at the Durham Town Hall; the Durham Hospital Foundation’s Boots and Bling event on October 14, 2023 at the Durham Community Centre; and the Optimist Club of Normanby Township Murder Mystery event on October 21, 2023 at the Normanby Arena.
