Council directed staff to submit requests for delegations respecting rural hospitals and healthcare, and infrastructure funding at the upcoming Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference happening on August 18-21, 2024.
Council received a request from Royal Canadian Legion Branch 308 to use additional light pole banner arms for the Legion’s veteran banner campaign. Council authorized the Legion to install up to 10 additional banners in Durham and three additional banners in Ayton.
Council directed staff to advertise the Lamlash (Bentinck) office for lease.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to amend the fees and charges bylaw to add a backyard composting unit fee of $55.00 per unit, inclusive of HST. These composting units will help divert compost away from landfills.
Council received a staff report on the possibility of installing solar panels on the Normanby shed roof.
Council approved the updated Financial Plan for the Neustadt and Durham Municipal Drinking Water Systems. The Financial Plan will be available to anyone served by the water systems.
Council shared information about upcoming community events, including:
- Elmwood Firefighter’s Association breakfast at the Elmwood fire station on June 1, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Community yard sales on June 1, 2024, in Ayton, Elmwood and Neustadt.
