- West Grey Durham Lions Club members provided information on the Saugeen Summer Night event that will be held in Durham on September 9, 2023. Council declared the event as being municipally significant and encouraged residents to attend.
- Sarah Pelton, Community Safety and Well-Being Planning (CSWBP) Coordinator provided an update on goals and objectives for social development, prevention, risk intervention, and incident response in Grey and Bruce counties.
- Council received a delegation from Roman Kolos and Bogdan Duda, Canadian Lemkos Association (CLA) respecting a request for returning Block 66 and 67 to the CLA. They also shared that CLA’s annual Bonfire “Vatra” event will return this summer after a COVID hiatus.
- Council approved the Durham BIA budget for 2023 as presented. More information on the 2023 Durham BIA budget can be found here.
- Council directed staff to send a letter of support to the Municipality of Shuniah regarding municipalities retaining surplus proceeds from tax sales.
- With council approval, the municipality will soon allow businesses that are permitted to be open on statutory holidays to sell alcohol if they are already licenced to do so.
- Council awarded $14,500 worth of community grants to various organizations that serve West Grey. Council has now awarded the full budget of $29,850 for grants to organizations in 2023.
- Council authorized staff to create a site plan and budget for the development of two properties in Durham and Neustadt.
- Council directed staff to enter into an agreement with JT Excavating for the urbanization and installation of underground utilities for Park Street. The urbanization of Park Street is intended to service 16 proposed dwelling units.
- West Grey is now offering civil marriage solemnization services that will be performed by the clerk or delegates of the clerk.
