Council directed staff to send a letter of support for the following resolutions:
- Municipality of Arran-Elderslie respecting Ontario Health Coalition;
- County of Bruce respecting Request for the Ontario Ministry of Health to Pause Service Level Reductions; and
- Township of Larder Lake and the Town of Cobalt respecting Asset Retirement Obligations.
Council directed staff to provide a letter of support to extend the deadline for the fulfillment of draft plan conditions for subdivision file 42T-2020-021 for a period determined by the County of Grey. The proposed plan of subdivision is expected to add 205 units of residential housing.
Council received a staff report on IPW-2024-24 Bridge B-003 for information purposes. A bi-annual inspection of structure B-003 was completed in 2023 and identified the structure to be in poor condition and recommended annual inspections.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to amend the fees and charges bylaw to add a unit fee of $63.00 per rain barrel inclusive of HST and $40.00 per downspout diverter unit inclusive of HST. It is anticipated that the rain barrels will be available for purchase in mid August.
Council directed staff to provide a letter of concurrence to the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (IESDC) regarding the proposed telecommunication tower installation at 451 Saddler St. in Durham.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to amend the delegation of powers and duties bylaw to add additional powers and duties regarding planning and development, and public works. The addition of the proposed powers and duties to the delegation of powers and duties bylaw will further reduce red tape and allow for staff to respond to issues in a timely manner.
Council formally appointed Michele Harris as West Grey’s Chief Administrative Officer. Ms. Harris officially began her role on July 8, 2024.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to opt out of the Line Fences Act and to apportion the cost of fences between neighbouring property owners.
Council shared information about upcoming community events, including:
- Neustadt roller skating on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 7p.m. to 9 p.m.
