Council received a delegation from Sara Hopkins and Judi Smelko respecting gravel mining and its impact to West Grey.
Council received correspondence from Ayton-Normanby Homecoming Committee regarding a request for support for the 2026 Ayton-Normanby Homecoming. Council authorized staff to enter into a MOU with the Ayton-Normanby Homecoming Committee for the 2026 homecoming, taking place July 3-5, 2026.
Council received a staff report on West Grey Drinking Water Systems for information purposes. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MOECP) awarded the Durham Drinking Water System an inspection rating of 100 percent and a risk rating of zero percent.
Council directed staff to send a letter of concurrence to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) regarding the proposed installation of telecommunication towers at the following locations: 614465 Hamilton Lane in the geographic township of Glenelg, 422348 Concession 6 NDR in the geographic township of Bentinck, and 234707 Concession 2 WGR in the geographic township of Bentinck, all within the Municipality of West Grey.
Council approved the 2025 West Grey budget which maintains existing service levels, advocates for rural health care, plans for growth, and commits funding for infrastructure. West Grey’s total capital and operating budget amounts to just over $33.69 million, representing an 8.6 percent blended tax increase (encompassing municipal, county, and education taxes).
