- Council approved a rezoning application for a development in Durham that will permit the construction of:
- a single-family dwelling on Saddler Street;
- a townhouse complex of four units on Bruce Street South; and
- a 4-storey apartment building with 40 units and an adjacent parking lot on Bruce Street South.
- Council approved a water service agreement with the Town of Hanover and the Becker Milk Company to provide municipal water service to the Shell gas bar and convenience store on County Road 10.
- Council received reports from public works staff outlining the condition of sidewalks and hard top roads in West Grey and requested staff include sidewalk extension projects in Durham and Ayton in future capital budgets.
- Council requested an update on the West Grey Police Service building. Staff outlined timelines, the required road and service work and the site work needed for the future development plans for the balance of the property. Staff advised the construction is still scheduled for a spring 2024 start.
- Council requested clarity regarding missed curbside garbage pick up. Staff advised that West Grey’s contractor, Waste Management, will return to pick up any missed stops. Over the holidays, residents can call Waste Management at 1-888-730-3344 if their materials have not been picked up.
- Mayor Eccles provided a reminder of the free Christmas lunch at the Durham Community Centre on the afternoon of December 25, open to any member of the community. Deputy Mayor Hutchinson congratulated West Grey Police Service on their annual toy drive and thanked the public for their generous contributions. Councillor Forester provided a reminder of the New Years Day breakfast at the Ayton Fire Hall and the upcoming Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week running from January 3-9, 2024.
