Council directed staff to send a letter of support for a resolution passed by the City of Quinte West supporting the request for increased house funding.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to enter into an agreement with the Municipality of Grey Highlands for the maintenance of boundary roads. This agreement summarizes responsibilities for each municipality respecting winter maintenance, levels of service, and capital projects.
Council received a staff report on the 2023 annual/summary reports for drinking water systems. West Grey operates drinking water systems in the Town of Durham and the Village of Neustadt.
Council has instructed staff to begin the blue box transition with Circular Materials Ontario (CMO). The transition period is effective January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. During this transition period, the Municipality of West Grey will:
- Opt out of curbside blue box collection for eligible sources and transfer both the operational and financial responsibility to Circular Materials Ontario (CMO) at no cost to West Grey.
- Opt out of blue box collection for eligible sources at the Bentinck and Durham Waste Sites and transfer the operational and financial responsibility to CMO at no cost to West Grey.
- Opt in to the depot blue box operations for eligible sources and act as a contractor to CMO with compensation from CMO to West Grey at $1,638.00 monthly.
- Offer services to ineligible sources during the transition period, either by implementing a levy or through user payments.
Council received a staff report on 2023 bylaw enforcement statistics. The goal of bylaw enforcement is to foster compliance with the municipality’s bylaws.
West Grey is accepting applications for board members to serve on the Durham Cemetery Board. Applications will be accepted until May 1, 2024, at 4:30p.m.
