WEST GREY, ON – The construction of the new West Grey police station has officially begun, with Domm Construction undertaking the $8.88 million project in Durham. The construction is estimated to take 16 months to complete and will be funded through the 2024 and 2025 budgets, as well as long-term borrowing.
The new police station is being designed to accommodate the current police service as well as projected growth. The building will feature upgrades to achieve better energy efficiency such as upgraded heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and enhanced insulation. Additionally, through the design of the building envelope, air circulation and flow will be greatly improved. Other ‘green’ enhancements will be finalized through the design process.
“We are excited to see that the fence is up, and earth is starting to move for the construction of our new municipal police station. This is a great project being undertaken to ensure the safety of everyone in our community, and is being completed by Domm Construction, a West Grey based builder.” said Mayor Eccles.
