Join us this Saturday, December 19 at the Durham arena for the Santa Claus Drive-thru Parade hosted by the West Grey Firefighters Association from 7 to 9 p.m. This is a free event, but everyone is asked to pre-register here.
The West Grey Festive Lights Tour continues through the month of December. Please drop by some of West Grey’s picturesque locations. More information and a downloadable passport have been posted here. Council recorded a holiday greeting and it has been posted to the West Grey YouTube channel. |
Holiday schedules |
The West Grey administration building will be closed from noon on December 24 until 10 a.m. on January 4, 2021. Neustadt pickleball will take a break for the holidays from December 23 until January 18, 2021. New players are always welcome. For more information see here. Durham and Bentinck residents will have garbage and recycling pickup on December 24 because the Friday falls on Christmas Day. All landfill sites are closed on December 25 and 26, 2020 and January 1, 2021. The 2021 garbage and recycling schedule has been posted here. The West Grey Public Library Durham branch will be closed from December 24 to January 4. The Ayton branch will close from December 23 to January 4. The Neustadt branch and the Elmwood Resource Centre will be closed from December 18 to January 6. |

Public Health is reminding everyone to follow these rules:
Social gathering limits by level under regulationsIn all levels, people are required to comply with public health guidance on physical distancing; Indoor and outdoor limits cannot be combined to increase the applicable limit; The specified limits apply to gatherings even if in a private dwelling, including houses, apartment buildings, condominium buildings and post-secondary student residences; The limits do not apply to a gathering of members of a single household. Grey-Bruce is currently in a yellow-protect zone. The limit for indoor social gatherings is 10 people; The limit for outdoor social gatherings is 25 people. The West Grey Fire Department wants your holiday to be fire safe and encourages everyone to follow the 12 Days of Fire Safety: 1. Water fresh trees daily 2. Check all sets of lights before decorating 3. Make sure you have working smoke alarms 4. Make sure everyone knows how to get out safely if a fire occurs 6. Use extension cords wisely 7. Give space heaters space 8. When you go out, blow out 9. Keep matches and lighters out of the sight and reach of children 10. Watch what you heat 11. Encourage smokers to smoke outside 12. Drink responsibly |
