WEST GREY, ON—The Municipality of West Grey has implemented a gradual and responsible approach to reopening municipal facilities. Outdoor green spaces, courts and sports fields have been open since June 12, and beginning this weekend, playgrounds in Durham will also open. Playgrounds in Ayton and Neustadt are expected to open in the coming weeks, once staff have assessed and prepared the equipment. Temporary bridge closures

WEST GREY, ON—The Municipality of West Grey has temporarily closed two bridges in the municipality following routine inspections.
The first bridge is located on Concession 2 WGR between Road 71 and Highway 89. The second is on Sideroad 25 between Concession 14 and Concession 12. Both will remain closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.
Staff have installed barricades and appropriate signage for detours.
West Grey community garden spaces now available

WEST GREY, ON—West Grey has opened several raised-bed gardens near the Durham Community Centre.
The gardens are open to any resident looking to plant and maintain a garden space for the summer, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“The community garden is a simple outreach that connects residents with garden spaces,” Mayor Christine Robinson said. “It literally is a way to put down roots in your community. This community garden is a welcome space to learn and grow food.”

West Grey bridge closure

WEST GREY, ON—The Municipality of West Grey has temporarily closed a bridge due to damage to the bridge deck.
The bridge is located on concession 4 NDR between Mulock Road and 30th sideroad. The bridge is closed to all vehicles and pedestrian traffic until further notice.
West Grey staff are working to install appropriate barricades, signs and detours.
COVID-19 update

WEST GREY, ON—On March 23, 2020 the Municipality of West Grey declared a state of emergency due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the municipality has remained focused on maintaining critical services and following the directions of the Grey Bruce Health Unit and the provincial government.
On August 4, the municipality announced the West Grey administration building would reopen to the public on August 17.
