Emergency Preparedness

In order to prepare for an emergency, the Municipality of West Grey has created a Community Emergency Response Plan. This plan takes a look at possible emergencies the municipality could face—including natural disasters, floods, terrorism or a health crisis—and guides the emergency response team through the crisis.

Emergencies can happen when you least expect them. Here’s how to be prepared:

Step 1 - Make a Plan
Take a few minutes to learn about different types of emergencies and how to prepare for them. Creating an emergency plan for your family will save valuable time and help reduce stress during an actual emergency.

Step 2 - Build a Kit
An emergency kit will keep you and your family safe until help arrives. Personalize your kit to meet the specific needs of your family, ensuring you have everything necessary for different situations.

Step 3 - Be Informed
Stay informed by tuning into local news channels during an emergency. Make sure your emergency kit includes a portable, battery-operated radio in case of a power outage. Take the time to learn about the hazards specific to Ontario, so you can be ready and know how to protect yourself.
