Council meeting highlights - March 4, 2025

Council received a delegation from Rose Austin, Saugeen Economic Development Corporation, regarding the 2024 Year in Review at Saugeen Connects.

Council received a request from Autism Ontario to proclaim April 2, 2025, as World Autism Day. In response, Council has proclaimed April 2, 2025, as World Autism Day.

Due to a vacancy on the Board, and at the request of the Durham Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board, Council appointed Nancy Nurse to the Durham BIA Board for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term.

Council requested a staff report for more information on a noise exemption request for the Reflections Festival that is taking place from May 16-19, 2025.

Council authorized an agreement with Municipal Support Services for animal control services. Council also directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to amend the fees and charges bylaw to increase dog tags by $5.00 per tag effective April 1, 2025.

Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to delegate Council’s authority to appoint municipal law enforcement officers to the Clerk. Delegating authority to appoint municipal law enforcement officers will help streamline an administrative process. Many municipalities have adopted similar delegation to ensure an efficient and timely appointment process.
