Council Meeting Highlights - April 15, 2025
Council received correspondence from the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority respecting the
installation of a fence bordering the Durham Conservation Area Campground. Council directed staff to
provide correspondence to the Conservation Authority outlining West Grey’s concerns with limiting daytime
access to the Durham Conservation Area for West Grey residents, and to explore options for allowing
free/reduced fees for daytime use for West Grey ratepayers.
Council amended bylaw 37-2006 as it relates to ZA10.2025 to remove the holding symbol from the David Chapman’s Ice Cream expansion lands on the West Grey-Grey Highlands border. The Municipality of West Grey and the Municipality of Grey Highlands have entered into an agreement related to servicing for the Chapman’s expansion project, that was fully executed on April 8, 2025.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to implement Site Plan Control on lands within the Mount Forest Business Park. Site Plan Control is necessary to address the need for a comprehensive approach to stormwater management in the business park due to continued development and potential new development.
Council amended the delegation of powers and duties bylaw to delegate to the Chief Building Official the power to enter into agreements for conditional building permits. The addition of this power will further reduce red tape and allow for staff to respond to issues in a timely manner.
