Applications and Permits

Adding a new driveway entrance or altering an existing entrance requires an entrance permit. The application will need to be submitted for review and approval prior to construction. 

There are rules such as the maximum width and number of driveways that apply to each property. If a new entrance culvert is needed, the size and location will be determined as part of the above review process.

Please contact the Public Works Department for more information or for assistance with the application.

If the entrance is on a County road, this request will require filing with Grey County.

If the entrance is on a Provincial Highway, this request will require filling with the Ministry of Transportation.

Special event road permits are required to close roads, takeover public spaces, or hold festivals or shows. The process to obtain a special event road permit should be initiated well before the closure is required, as extensive consultation between internal departments and external agencies is often required during the review process.

Complete a municipal and/or county road application to apply for a special event road permit. For questions regarding municipal road closure requests, please contact the Public Works Department.

Applications for a wide load permit may be made to the Department of Infrastructure and Public Works.

• The proposed date(s)
• Type of materials being hauled
• Haul route
• Load weight and width
• Number of loads to be transported
