Public Works and Infrastructure

The Municipality continually monitors traffic and the infrastructure network and is always looking to improve service delivery. If you notice any issues with our traffic networks, sidewalks or road maintenance please submit a report here.

The Department of Infrastructre and Public Works is responsible for conducting and/or facilitating a wide range of services, including the following:

Roads, Sidewalks, Bridges, and Culverts

  • Repair and maintenance of over 700 km of roads and 27 km of sidewalks throughout West Grey
  • Monitor and assess 114 bridges and culverts with a span of three meters or more, through a prioritization program
  • Snowplowing municipal roads, parking lots, and sidewalks
  • Roads-related permits (Entrance Permits, Special Event Road Permits, Road Closures)
  • Adopt-A-Road Program
  • West Grey is responsible for 750 street lights
  • West Grey owns 1 stop light at the intersection of Hwy 6/Garafaxa Street and Grey Road 4/Lambton Street

Garbage, Recycling, and Landfills

  • Operation of landfill sites in Bentinck (114079 Grey Road 3, Elmwood) and Durham (590 Park Street, Durham), including a hazard waste receptacle that alternates between the sites
  • Curbside collection of household garbage and recycling collection through external service providers
  • Annual leaf and yard waste collection

Water and Sewer Services (Durham and Neustadt)

  • Operation of water systems in the settlement areas of Durham and Neustadt
  • Operation of sewer systems in the settlement areas of Durham and Neustadt
