Landfill Sites

The Municipality of West Grey's landfill sites operate under a Provincially issued Environmental Compliance Approval and can only accept waste generated within the Municipality. Below is a list of materials each site accepts, including over 20 items eligible for recycling.

The minimum fee for sorted waste (up to 70 kg) is $15.
The minimum fee for unsorted waste (up to 70 kg) is $40.
Please note that bag tags cannot be used as payment.

Sorted Waste: Waste that does not contain any items that are recyclable through West Grey’s programs.

Unsorted Waste: Waste that includes items that can be recycled through West Grey’s programs.

Things to know before you arrive at the site:

The minimum fee for sorted materials is $15, and $40 for unsorted waste.
Only materials generated within the Municipality of West Grey will be accepted.
Sort your materials before you load your vehicle to make it easier for staff to assess your materials and for you to unload in the proper areas. More sorting equals more savings! Remember most recycling items are free of charge. Clear bags are required for loose household waste.
Check in at the scale to have materials assessed and pay on the way out.
Site attendants are there to help answer your questions and ensure the sites operate as are required by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) issued Certificate of Approval.
Payment is accepted by cash or cheque with photo identification. Bag tags are not accepted as payment, but you can purchase them on site for your curbside waste collection.
Contractors must fill out the Contractor Waste Site Authorization Form. Loads will be inspected so please sort before arrival.
Trailers must be secured per HTA requirements (covered or tied down).

Summer Hours: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. (April to October)

Materials

The Municipality of West Grey Landfill's accepts the following materials according the fee schedule created under the Fees and Charges Bylaw. All fees are payable at the landfill unless a prior charge account has been set up with the Municipality of West Grey.

The landfill is only accepting cash at this time, and all landfill fees are tax exempt.

Upon arrival, users will be asked to provide proof of West Grey residency (driver’s license) as the following landfill services are only available to residents of the municipality.

Soil and gravel
Stumps
Fencing where wire is attached to wood. These items must be separated and wire must be cut and bundled.
Hot loads (smoldering wood or ashes)
Ammunition, flares and explosives.
- Please contact the West Grey Police Service to dispose of ammunition, explosives or flares. Do not take items to the police station. Call 519-371-6911 and police will assist you.
