Council Meeting Highlights - September 16, 2025
Council received a delegation from Kim Storz and Kimm Culkin of the West Grey Public Library, who provided an update on library operations and programming across its three branches. In addition to lending books, the library offers digital resources, community services, and serves as a welcoming space for residents.
Council received correspondence from Melina Gorosito requesting school zone signage and a crossing guard at Garafraxa St. N. and Jackson St. E. In response to the request, Council has requested that the Mayor include a study on a pedestrian crossover at Garafraxa Street North (Highway 6) and Jackson Street East in the 2026 budget.
On a request from the Ontario Municipal Water Association, Council proclaimed October 23, 2025, as Water and Wastewater and Stormwater Operations Appreciation Day.
Council received a staff report on ZA07.2025 and WGOPA16 – 1872 Durham Corp (Cobide). The proposal includes constructing a new 8-room motel on the same property as the existing restaurant, The Foundry. Council directed staff to prepare a bylaw to amend the Municipality of West Grey Zoning Bylaw and Official Plan for the Settlement Areas of Durham and Neustadt, related to ZA07.2025 and WGOPA16.
Council received a staff report on proposed road upgrades to Victoria Street in Ayton, which would include storm sewers, curbs, asphalt, and sidewalks at the developer’s expense. Council deferred a decision on the matter until November 7, 2025.

- Elmwood Community Service Association Wing Night on September 19, 2025
- Ham and Scalloped Potato Dinner at the Neustadt Community Centre on September 21, 2025
- Normanby Optimist Murder Mystery on October 18, 2025
- Octoberfest at the Neustadt Brewery on September 26, 2025, and September 27, 2025
