SATURDAY, AUGUST 5 - Go back in time to see how grain was harvested from 1900s to 1950s at the home farm of Dennis and Denise Fischer at R. R. #3 Durham, Concession 2, fire # 232492. Just 2 kilometers west of highway 6, south of Durham. Activities begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue into the afternoon. Relive those early days using a shingling mill, shelling corn and a corn blizzard. See how grain was harvested with a reaper and a binder. See sheaves being fed into two different working threshing machines on site. Reminisce while viewing a variety of antiques including a variety of antique tractors. (Antique tractors are welcome) Bring a lawn chair. Food will be available. Appreciate the hard work and effort that our early farming communities experienced while harvesting their crops. AUGUST 11, 12, 13, ANNUAL 32ND FAMILY Slow-Pitch BALL TOURNAMENT at the Ayton ball diamond. There is still room for several more teams. Contact the arena at 519-665-7850. On FRIDAY, August 11 the first game begins at 7 p.m. with games all day through Saturday with the finals late Sunday afternoon. A food booth will be there all weekend.
100 YEAR PICTURE - Be part of an historic picture on August 13 at 1:30 p.m. on the steps of the Centennial Hall in Ayton. If your birth year ends in a “7”, such as 1917, 1927, 1937, 1947, 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007, 2017 please join us for this unique picture. Several smaller group pictures will also be taken. AUGUST 19 - The Jungle Carnival will start at 5 p.m. at the Centennial Hall, Ayton. Admission is $4 for children and $5 for adults. The Jungle Horses (ladies slow pitch team) are sponsoring a barbeque. The Ponies will be selling tickets for the Carnival games.
