Special Olympics Day is a celebration of the 50th anniversary, in 50 communities in Ontario, 50 days out from the Special Olympics Ontario Invitational Youth Games.

Special Olympics is celebrating the 50th anniversary with 12 months of festivities planned around the world, beginning in Chicago in July 2018 and culminating in Toronto in June 2019. Canada has an honoured place within the movement, through the tireless work and efforts of Dr. Frank Hayden, who pioneered the research and the structure that we now know as Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Day will honour the legacy of the past 50 years while enthusiastically looking ahead at the next 50!

Trek for Tourette

Sunday, March 31, 2019 11:00am - 4:00pm
Location: Normanby Community School - Ayton

Our goal is to generate funding for Tourette Canada, & most importantly create awareness & understanding about Tourette syndrome. This will be our families 4th time hosting the Trek for Tourette in Ayton ~ Canada wide, it’s the 11th Trek. Most people think they know Tourette syndrome… It’s the person who blurts out foul words at inopportune times, like what you see on sitcoms or in movies. In reality, this particular vocal tic is rare. This stereotype of people living with TS is unfortunately common. Last year the West Grey Ayton Trek was the top fundraiser out of 15 locations across Canada! Tourette syndrome has many layers & is unique to each individual that has it. Together, let’s set the record straight & eliminate the stigma that surrounds this disorder. Trek for Tourette is a 5 km. walk/run held in communities across Canada in support of TS. We hope you will join us for this family fun event on Sunday March 31st. Sincerely, The Tone Family
